Mark Webster’s excellent World Darts Championship campaign came to an end as he was edged out by Michael van Gerwen in a thrilling encounter on Sunday evening.

Webster, who had reached the last eight by defeating van Gerwen’s Dutch compatriot Raymond van Barneveld, fell 3-0 and 4-1 behind but fought back brilliantly before eventually losing out 5-3. (more…)

MARK WEBSTER 4 – 3 Raymond van Barneveld

Mark Webster claimed a brilliant victory over five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld to move into the quarter-finals of the World Darts Championship on Friday evening.

Mark Webster moved into the last 16 of the World Championship in dramatic style after winning a thrilling match against John Henderson on Sunday evening.

MARK WEBSTER  3 – 2 Mensur Sulovic

Mark Webster won through to the second round of the World Championship after coming out on top in an exciting opener against Mensur Suljovic.

The Welsh ace was made to work hard for the victory, eventually triumphing in a deciding set tie-break, with the aid of a spectacular 150 finish, after twice falling a set behind. (more…)

Mark Webster bowed out of the Grand Slam after being denied a route through to the quarter-finals by Scott Waites on Wednesday.

The former World Champion had defeated Wes Newton and Ross Smith to reach the last 16 but could not see off the 2010 winner, losing out 10-6 after Waites won the final four legs to progress. (more…)

Mark Webster progressed to the last 16 of the Grand Slam in dramatic style, winning a nine-dart shoot-out against Wes Newton after the pair ended the group stage tied on points and leg difference.

Webster, who had already beaten Newton but lost to Simon Whitlock prior to a decisive evening on Monday, claimed a 5-3 win against Ross Smith to boost his chances of qualification in his final Group G match.

But Newton’s 5-4 win against Whitlock left them at deadlock, setting up the shoot-out which the Welshman won convincingly.

MARK WEBSTER 5-2 Wes Newton

Mark Webster gave his hopes of progressing from a tough Grand Slam of Darts group a brilliant boost by defeating world number eight Wes Newton in his opening match.

The Welsh left-hander raced back from being two legs behind to seal the win, hitting a sensational 164 checkout along the way.

Former world darts champion Mark Webster will be hoping to relive his 2008 win over Simon Whitlock after the two were paired together in the same group for the Grand Slam of Darts event in Wolverhampton.

Both are sponsored by Leyland Paints, so the match between the Welsh left-hander and the Australian, should prove to be a colourful affair.

Since the pair met in the BDO world final five years ago, Webster hasn’t enjoyed much success against ‘The Wizard’, but he’s hoping to put that right in the fast-paced early format of the group stages of the Grand Slam. (more…)
