MARK WEBSTER has admitted his disappointment at Wales’ early exit from the World Cup of Darts.
The Welsh team of former World Champion Webster and rising star Gerwyn Price were tipped by many pundits as dark horses for the title, which England eventually retained, but the pair lost out in the second round.
Webster, a World Cup ever-present, and Price, who was making his debut in the tournament, defeated Finland in their opener but missed out on a quarter-final place after being denied by Canada in a pairs decider.
“I didn’t really play near my best,” said Webster, who reached the final in 2010.
“I’m gutted, especially for Gerwyn because he played well on his debut and got us into a position where we still had a chance against Canada but fair play to them, they were the better team on the day.”
